Choir went to State to perform as soloist and in small ensembles on April 25. Eight ensembles performed including freshman Daylie Waters in the Freshman Women’s Misc. Ensemble. This was Water’s first competition and she feels it was a good experience to have Freshman year.

“This year was a really good experience cause I’ve never been to a choir competition,” Waters said. “Going to state was a really big deal freshman year.”

Choirs had the chance to win Exemplary gold, Outstanding silver, and satisfactory bronze. Junior Annah Garrison has been going to competitions since freshman year and enjoys listening to other schools.

“Honestly I learn something new every single time,” Garrison said.

Seniors Josie Boutte, Megan Hall, and Kiley Hoaglen all won exemplary gold as well as the Womens Trio, two Mixed Double Quartets, Mens Double Quartet and Mens Trio. Freshman Holly Gouldsmith feels it was easy to get along with people from other schools.

“So many people there who enjoyed singing as much as we do made it really comfortable even though it was our first time.” Gouldsmith said.

In all, 39 students participated in the State Solo and Ensemble Festival.
