STAYING FOCUSED. Taking notes, Junior Olivia Siefker works hard at getting assignments done as the last day of the semester approaches. The District moved the last day from Dec. 22 to Dec. 18, 2020.

The District moved the last day of the fall semester to Friday Dec. 18 instead of the originally scheduled last day of Tuesday, Dec. 22. The last day of the winter break will remain the same but the change to the last day makes it to where students get 18 days off rather than the original two weeks. Junior Olivia Siefker feels this will help her be with family more.

“It really gives me more time to be with my family and finish up the semester on a less stressful note,” Siefker said.

The School Board approved the change on Nov. 24. The teachers will still have to be in the building that day but the last day of break being changed also gives teachers more time to be with family over the holidays. Sophomore Rayleigh Shockley is glad that she gets a longer break.

“I’m honestly happy we get a longer break because school has been stressful the last few weeks,” Shockley said.

Students will come back to school on Jan. 6 and the hybrid schooling will continue after break. Junior Bella Gilmore believes that ending the semester earlier will help her get things done.

“It’s kinda nice because it’s giving me more time to do things I’ve been needing to do,” Gilmore said.

The last day of school will still be May 26.
