Last night was the annual powder-puff football game. The seniors dominated the juniors 28-16. Stuco hosted the game, which was led by Junior Jenna Lehane and Freshman Lexie Steffens.
The juniors’ coaching staff consisted of Coach Craig Brown and Coach Heather Hopkins. The juniors scored three touchdowns and one interception. Hayley Mcgee had one touchdown, and McKenna Simons led the team with two. Ainsley Beckman had one interception. Simons believes that the game was a good time to play with her friends.
“It was exciting to have two touchdowns,” Simons said. “And getting to celebrate with my friends.”
Coach Joshua Wilson and Coach Kelly Sullivan led the seniors. The team had a total of four touchdowns and two interceptions. Madison Smith, Nicole Bisbee, and Kyli Bisbee all had touchdowns. Smith and N. Bisbee had one touchdown while K. Bisbee led with two. Smith had two interceptions as she led the defense. Coach Wilson believes that the event brings a new aspect to being an athlete.
“It brings competitive nature in a different way for a lot of the girls that are athletes,” Coach Wilson said. “It brings a fun atmosphere.”
The game was officiated by Stuco football players senior Isaac Woodward, senior Alex Sondgrass, and junior Sean Plaisime. Plaisime was the center of controversy when he called an incomplete pass as a touchdown. Plaisme feels that the missed call didn’t affect the outcome.
“I saw Kenna [Simons] maintain possession of the ball, she came down then jumped back up with it still in her arms,” Plaisime said. “So I ruled it a touchdown.”
The cost of the game was one canned good per person which was donated to the school district pantry.
