STRETCHING OUT. Senior Cruz Navarro searches for an open player in their 54-60 loss to the Truman Patriots during the home opener of the new field house. “We didn’t show up, and played as hard as we could have,” Navarro said.

The girls’ and boys’ basketball teams held a doubleheader game against the Truman Patriots to open the new fieldhouse on January 2nd. The official groundbreaking of the field house started in June 2022. Junior Isaac Woodward feels as if there was much anticipation of playing in the new fieldhouse.

¨It was so nerve-racking, I couldn’t even explain it,¨ Woodward said. ¨I felt like I was going to throw up.¨

The girls played first and walked away with a win of 48-42 against the Truman Patriots. Junior Kyli Bisbee thinks it was a good game.

¨We worked well together as a team,¨ Bisbee said. ¨We were all very excited.¨

The boys put up a fight but eventually fell 54-60 to the Truman Patriots. Senior Cruz Navarro believes they fought hard, but ultimately made too many mistakes.

¨The nerves were high but we still came out strong,¨ Navarro said. ¨We thought we could pull it off but the little things killed us.¨

The girls have a record of 6-9 while the boys have a record of 6-9.
