Next year Fort Osage is requiring all sophomores to take the pre-ACT in hopes of impacting overall ACT scores. Most colleges require students to take the act. A+ coordinator Ashley Ginger feels that the pre-act helps students determine what they excel at.
“I think taking that PreACT is a good indicator of what you’re capable of doing and if that matches with your interests.” Mr. Ginger said.
During the 23-24 school year, you had to sign up to take the PreACT but that will now be required. Junior Jordyn Lampton thinks that taking the pre-act helped her feel more confident.
“It made me feel more prepared since I took it early on in the year and it made me feel confident that I would be able to take the ACT later on in high school and pass it,” Lampton said.
Research shows that taking the PreACT helps you figure out what you’ve done well on and what you need to work on. Principal Dr. Luke says that research has proven that taking pre-tests can improve your final scores.
“There’s a lot of research that says once you’ve taken a test you perform better on it the second time, specifically the act.” Dr. Luke said.
