On April 18 Club 121 held their event Stand. This is the 3rd year holding this event that inspires students to stand up for their faith. During this event, students stand and speak their testimonies. Junior John Winingar was one of the three brave students who spoke. Winingar has been a part of Club 121 and this event for all three years. Winigar believes sharing testimony is an important part of his faith.
“It helps build a sense of community and belonging for those who don’t necessarily know Christ but want to know him,” Winigar said. “It gives them people they can look to in the school and people who are going through the same things.”
This year’s guest speaker was Emily Ford, who devoted her time to be a Children’s and Youth Pastor for Living Waters Family Worship Center. Her message revolved around the gospel’s core, Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection. She hoped to inspire students to never give up on their struggles and disappointments because the Lord always has Sunday coming. Ford understands that Jesus is her savior and provider.
“I couldn’t exist without him; he is my peace, he is my joy, he is what ultimately helps me make every decision I make,” Ford said. “I try to always walk in those footsteps that he has for me. Jesus is everything to me.”
Club 121 is in for a change next year because the club advisor, Angelique Jungmeyer, is retiring next year. Mrs. Jungmeyer believes the hardest part about retiring is leaving her club’s 121 members. She hopes they continue to stand strong in their faith in their school community.
“People who share the same faith can then connect with each other and be there to support one another,” Jungmeyer said.
Club 121 will be having its last meeting this school year in May. If you wish to attend or talk to friendly students about life, reach out to Mrs. Jungmeyer through email,l and she will provide you with more details.
