Tristan Hinckley (left) shows KC Culberston (right) how to catch in the baseball episode of “KC Gets Critiqued”, which is the 3rd episode of the segment on Tribal Review. When asked about his segment, and his announcing career for the sports game, Culbertson said “The class itself made me realize what I want to do.” – showing his dedication to his craft.

As KC Culbertson walks to the baseball field, he’s flanked by an athlete and a cameraman, prepared to shoot this month’s episode of “KC Gets Critiqued”, a sports-news segment he started earlier this year.

Culbertson started doing Sports Broadcasting in August 2023, but he’s been interested in it throughout high school. He believes sports media is his dream job.

“I’ve found doing sports for games and play-by-play to be fun,” Culbertson said, “and it’s what I would do for a dream job.”

Culbertson plans to major in Journalism at Missouri State University in Springfield, MO. Junior Broadcaster Hanna Johnston appreciates how he’s helped grow the program.

“He has changed a lot about it, like sports in general, he’s improved it,” Johnston said, “and, just the way he helps everyone around him and he doesn’t back down from challenges.”

Culbertson also participates in the Student Council, having started at Buckner Elementary in 3rd grade. Senior Student Council member Emmah Crowe feels he’s the light of the room.

“KC’s biggest strength is his amazing personality,” Crowe said, “He brings the best attitude and charisma that just lights up the room.”

Culbertson is also a boy’s captain for Cross Country.

As KC adjusts the camera and fixes his hair, he gives a thumbs-up to his cameraman and starts the show.
