MODERN. The new office sits near Fire Prairie Upper Elementary and just off 24 Highway. The old office was the oldest building on campus and is being replaced with a parking lot. “The old central office used to be the schoolhouse in the district, so leaving it felt bittersweet,” Mr. Phil Caderalla said.

Phil Caderalla begins moving boxes from the Gragg Administration building. It’s a bittersweet move, as this move will mark the end of the oldest building on the Fort Osage campus. On the other hand, it marks the beginning of a new and improved facility.

On Jan. 3rd, 2023, the school opened up its new Administrative building. Its new building is located east of Fire Prairie Upper Elementary. District Superintendent Dr. Jason Snodgrass thinks that something people may not realize the importance of is parking.

“I think something that’s exciting and many people may not realize but it’s the extra parking,” Dr. Snodgrass said, “we had very few parking spots there, we’ll have much more accommodation for parking for folks that come up there.”

Construction began in Spring 2022 for the new building. Director of Finances Dr. Steve Morgan feels that scheduling played a major role in the move.

“Well it took a lot of cooperation to get the move, a lot of scheduling with moving the furniture and with the project,” Dr. Morgan said. “And of course, working around everybody’s schedules A lot of staff were involved in that. A lot of moving pieces and cooperation made this happen.”

The building replaced the old Gragg Administration Building, which began deconstruction in February 2023. Mr. Phil Caderalla found that the move was a challenge.

“Part of us moved the week before Winter Break, and the rest of us were that following week, so we transitioned going over there,” Mr. Caderalla said. “There was still some more work required there but getting all of our stuff together after being in that building for so long was a challenge but we made it through and things have since settled down and it’s going really well.”

This is one of multiple projects launched through the 2021 Levy & Bond Transfer. Others include the new gym and various remodels throughout the district.

And while it’s certainly a bittersweet goodbye for Caderalla, he and the staff still look forward excitedly to what will come from the new building.
