The football team made coaching changes for the 2021 football season. The team ended the 2020 season with a record of 3-7. Head coach Brock Bult feels confident in these coaching changes, and is excited to see what the upcoming season holds for the team.

“I feel like our staff is stronger than it’s ever been,” Coach Bult said. “We are working really well together and we are all on the same page.”

Coach Bult has stepped down from the offensive coordinator position to head coach and work with safeties. As the offensive coordinator, Coach Bult’s offense racked up 2,627 total yards in the 2020 season. New Offensive Coordinator Simo Atagi looks forward to working in his new position.

“I’m really excited about working with our kids and learning new things about our opponents, while trying to exploit their weaknesses,” Coach Atagi said.

Coach Atagi is a returning coach who has had experience playing and coaching on the offensive side of the ball. To kick off the 2021 season the offense put up 538 total yards in the first game. Mr. Josh Terhune coaches the linebackers, and is very hopeful about this season.

“We are figuring things out, but I think we can have some pretty good success,” Coach Terhune said. “We have some leaders on the defense that if we do our jobs right we can make teams struggle offensively.”

The other coaching changes include Mr. Anthony Jacobs taking over as the JV Head Coach and alumni Jesse Reser helping with the Linebackers.

Fort Osage started the season on Aug. 27 with a 61-21 win over Central (St. Joseph). The regular season runs through Oct. 22.
