On Feb. 2, 2024, Fort Osage hosted the annual court warming celebration. The winners for courtwarming King and Queen were Carter Christiansen and Izzi Cobb respectively. During the Courtwarming game, Fort Osage ultimately fell 33-73 to William Chrisman, while the Women’s Basketball team successfully took down William Chrisman 42-29. Courtwarming King nominee Drevious Black was glad to get the experience, despite the loss.

“I’m a little bummed,” Black said, “but I do appreciate the opportunity to walk out and it’s a good senior memory.”

During the week leading up to court warming, the Student Council hosted a spirit week Tuesday-Friday (Fort Osage classes were not in session on Monday). The spirit week themes contained pajama day, jersey day, socks and sandals day, and toga or white-out day. The theme for court warming was ‘Osage Odyssey’, a play on ancient Greece. Student Council President Sidney Sullivan shared what the courtwarming process looks like.

“It takes about a month of preparations, so before winter break started we came up with a theme,” Sullivan said, “and whenever we come back from winter break we start to plan all of our stuff, we get our orders in, we get all our committees set up and everything, and we start to build things up for brainstorming in our own committees and after we get everything situated it’s just a lot of our previously planning, and we kinda just jump right into it.”

During the doubleheader, both teams put up a hard fight, with the girl’s team making a second-half comeback, which ultimately allowed them to win the game. Basketball player McKenna Simons felt that patience was key.

“I think being patient and poise on offense,” Simons said, “and just settling in and beating the bears was our key to win.”

To conclude courtwarming week, Fort Osage held the annual courtwarming dance from 7-10 pm on Feb. 3rd.
