The Fort Osage Men’s soccer team held their annual Fort Osage Alumni soccer game on Saturday, Aug 24. The alumni were split into teams. The red team had people who graduated in even years and the white team had odd years. 1999 Alumni Jennifer Kudzinski believes in coming back to support the younger generation.
“I think it’s important to come back and support the student-athletes,’ Kudzinski said.
The alumni game consists of four 15-minute quarters. This event allows the alumni to reconnect with their high school memories. 2023 graduate Kylie Taylor enjoyed reconnecting with her high school soccer memories.
“Junior year when I came back from having a torn ACL and I came back and scored my first goal back and Coach Tacke gave me the biggest hug,” Taylor said.
At the end of the 4th quarter, the red team won 5-3. Leading scorers for both teams were employees of the Fort Osage men’s soccer coaching staff. Jack Tupinio led the red team with 3 goals and Keegan Lammering led the white team with 2 goals. Senior captain of the boy varsity soccer team Jackson Taylor thinks it’s important for students to see who paved the path for them today.
“Especially for us players, to see what our legacy is, it’s fun to see them come back and play,” Taylor said.
The alumni game allows graduates to return and see where their high school has gone. 1991 graduate Kenneth Casper has been attending the alumni game since it started. He loves returning to his high school to see the growth of the soccer program and the school.
“It’s wonderful to see what’s coming to the school,” Casper said.
Around 30 alumni came out to support the boys’ soccer program. The boy’s first home game will be on Sept. 9 at 6:30 p.m.
