Fort Osage reacts to ‘Star Wars: The Last Jedi’
January 19, 2018
A group of students sits in the cafeteria looking at their phones counting down the days until December 14 when “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” will hit theaters.
Students are anticipating the release of the new movie, “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.” The movie serves as a sequel to “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” released in 2015.
“I’m pretty excited for the new movie,” senior Cameron Kean said. “I’m excited to see what happens.”
The students of Fort Osage are generally excited about the release of the new movie, however, the reaction on how well the old trilogy compares to the new one seems split. While most like and enjoy how the story continues after the fall of the empire others find the new trilogy “not as classical” as the original three movies.
“The new movies compare to the originals pretty badly, I don’t like the new take but I know that some do,” sophomore Julianna Beckley said.
Kean, says he is only watching the new movies for the easter eggs to the original trilogy, while other students, such as freshman Harly Bergsiker, seem very interested in the new storyline. Beckley said that while she likes the repeated characters, the new trilogy is just “ok.”
“I’m very curious to know more about the aftermath of what happened to Han Solo,” Bergsiker said.
The movie released on Thursday, Dec. 14 and is still in theatres across the nation.
The group of student now sit close so that they all can see the Chromebook playing the new trailer for “Star Wars: The Last Jedi.” After the trailer is done they discuss their plans to go see the new movie.
