Fort Support Week ends with show of school spirit
December 15, 2017
Fort Support week concluded today the way it started. It opened with the pledge and then a narrative speech introducing the day’s theme, which was Fort Pride Day.
“Today is a reminder of the entire week and what it means to be a Fort Family member. We need to be aware of the mental and physical health of our friends, we need to celebrate what makes us unique and different,” Principal Moore announced over the intercom. “We need to pay it forward to begin a chain of positivity and respect, and we need to be proud to be a member of our Fort community.”
This week was to show support to people who have come a long way with problems and to show that Fort cares about each and every single student in the Fort Osage School District.
“I thought the idea for Fort Support Week was great, but I wish more people had participated,” Junior Haylee Warren said.
This week helped bring the Fort family a little bit closer. Principal Moore and the administrative team came up with the idea for this week. The week featured Semicolon Day, Celebrate Our Differences Day and Pay It Forward Day. The lunch room on Wednesday spiced it up a little bit with foods from Mexico, Italy, China, America’s favorite BBQ and Sweet from Sweden soft baked cookies.
“None of this is easy,” Principal Moore said in his morning announcement. “It’s never easy to be calm during a storm or the voice of reason when your angry, but if we continue to support one another, hold each other accountable, and actively engage in our own well being while being considerate of others, the Fort Family will continue to strengthen and embrace each of us. Today is a great day to be an Indian and it is an honor to be your principal.”
