IDENTITY. Senior Cora Fuller works on her portrait. Cora’s favorite medium is paint. Her advice to beginner artists is to, “Work hard. Really try to put your all into your art.”

Story by Shia Mobley, Co-Editor

A charcoaled hand dances across a piece of paper, coating the sheet in black. Every single mark is calculated, precise. Setting the charcoal down, she stares back at the portrait with concentration evident on her face. Senior Art Club President Cora Fuller see’s her art burst to life as a result of her hard work.

As the Art Club President, Fuller plans meetings, sets up group projects such as murals, and plans fundraisers. This passion for art started at a young age.

“I started taking art seriously in 7th grade,” Fuller said. “I’ve liked art since I was little, but I started trying hard then.”

Fuller aspires to have a degree in art, though she remains undecided on what her true path will be. Senior Keane Kuhns finds her art interesting.

“The visual composition of her art is really good,” Kuhns says. “I really like her art.”

When she’s not busy working on masterpieces, she enjoys other hobbies such as watching softball. Senior Kyra McKinney agrees with Kuhns.

“She’s really good at expressions, shading and colors,” McKinney said. “It’s inspirational.”

Fuller was elected as president in early 2022. She finds her inspiration to come from the therapeutic element of art.

“It’s relaxing,” Fuller said. “It can also be stressful sometimes as well, but the attention pays off.”

She picks up the paint brush, leaning slightly above the desk. She swatches the colors, comparing them to her portrait, eyes darting back and forth between the work. She looks up at her friends and smiles, heading back to work.
