The girls basketball team took on the Oak Park Northmen on Feb. 21. The team won big on Senior Night 58-36. Senior Ashlyn Buntin feels very proud to have won on the night the seniors were honored.

“It feels like all we worked for really paid off,” Buntin said. “It feels good to win on Senior Night knowing this is one of my last games in our gym.”

Buntin had 9 points in the game. The last time the Indians faced Oak Park they also took the win with a score of 51-38. Senior Macie Smith thinks the team’s energy helped them power through the game.

“We had great energy, pushed the ball well, and played as a team,” Smith said.

Smith led the team with14 points. The team is on a hot streak right now with winning four out of the last six games. Freshman McKenna Simons believes the team could improve on taming down their voices toward the refs.

“We get a little chirpy sometimes, but it is just because we are passionate,” Simons said. “When you aren’t getting the calls you want you are gonna say some things, but we have to learn to keep it under control a little bit.”

Simons scored 12 points on the night. The team improves to 11-12 on the season. The Indians will face Warrensburg for their last game of the regular season on Feb. 23.
