Varsity Cheerleader Hannah Roberts runs out of the tunnel holding hands with her teammate ready to perform the routine that she has been working on for months, putting in hours and hours of sweat, blood, and tears. She is in her space on the mat waiting for the music to play. As the speakers start to blast the music she hits her first stunt.
Roberts has been a cheerleader for 13 years and plans on continuing her academic and athletic career at Missouri Valley where she will be cheering on the Vikings and the path to becoming a nurse. Roberts is also involved in many more things than just high school cheer, she is involved in Deca, varsity track, all-star cheer, and youth group. Roberts believes the best advice for the younger class is to, not give up and lead by example.
“Don’t give up even and be an example for everyone on the team, you never know who’s watching!” Roberts said.
Roberts’s goals this season are to help her teammates grow and bond before she leaves for college. Teammate Sadie Bryant says that Roberts has always set a good example.
“She always comes to practice with the biggest smile no matter what,” Bryant says. Her favorite memory with Hannah was senior night.”
Roberts All-Star cheer team won first place at the Rock Star championship competition in 2025. Teammate Emma Edwards says she always feels very inspired by Roberts.
“She is very determined, fierce, and puts her mind to things and gets them done,” Edwards said.
Roberts has been doing high school cheer with Sadie for two years and Emma has been cheering with Roberts for one year. Both Sadie and Emma describe Roberts as one of their best friends and also as a very loyal friend. Roberts says that her mom has always inspired her to do and be better.
“My mom has always been an inspiration to me, she has taught me everything I know,” Roberts said.
Roberts can feel her heart beating out of her chest as she finishes her routine she runs to hug her teammates jumping with joy.
