Krevitz helps lead cheer squad
September 19, 2022
Senior Jozie Krevitz stands in lines of cheerleaders with a black and red pom poms in each hand, ready to get the student section loud. She starts a chant saying “I-N-D-I-A-N-S. Go Indians,” where the other cheerleaders join along. The student section begins to follow along with their hands forming a circle around their mouths.
Krevitz is in her senior year of high school and has three years of cheerleading experience, all on varsity. Before cheering she participated in gymnastics for 13 years. Krevitz enjoys the time she spends with her teammates.
“For me the best part about cheering is Friday Night Lights at football games with my friends,” Krevitz said.
Krevitz is a flyer with her bases Sophomore Hannah Roberts and Freshman Logyn Bryant. Roberts believes that Krevitz brings positivity to the team.
“Cheering with Jozie is fun because she always brings a good attitude to every practice and game and knows how to get the team together,” Roberts said. “She knows how to keep practice going.”
Krevitz plans on continuing her cheer career at an undecided college along with her education to study health and exercise science. Freshman Logyn Bryant believes that Krevitz is a leader and dependable.
“Jozie leads with good examples for us younger girls, she keeps us all on track,” Bryant said. “She’s always on time, and stays tight to keep her stunt up.”
Krevitz is working with the CTC in their sports medicine and physical therapy class to have a head start for her career. Krevitz advice to younger players would be to take advantage of practice and extra practice because it all goes by so fast. Her favorite memory as a cheerleader is from her first year of cheer.
“My favorite memory from cheer is getting first at State my sophomore year despite all the obstacles covid had brought us,” Krevitz said.
Ending the chant with pom poms being slapped together, then waving her left pom pom at the student section with a big smile. Once the chant is over she turns and faces the football field to be ready to cheer on the Fort Osage Indians.
