Latests “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie subpar

Story by Ripken Kiesling

Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 3,” rated PG-13, opened in US theaters May 5. Marvel really hyped it up but it fell short of expectations.

I came in thinking this would be the best marvel movie this year, but it had too many sad parts and flashbacks. Many of the flashbacks were Rockets past which was really gut wrenching. The highpoints in the movie though had to be the fight scenes and the comedic scenes. Just like the new “Ant Man” movie, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” introduced a lot of weird looking characters. Chris Pratt really got into his role as Peter Quill, also known as Star Lord and the dramatic scenes almost felt real.

In “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1” and “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2,” Star Lord has a helmet on his head to protect him when he is in space but in “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3” it was not to be seen. He could have used it multiple times and almost died without it. I have mixed feelings about it because you could see his facial expressions instead of the mask but I feel like the mask makes him look way cooler.

The special effects were on point. Guy Williams didn’t have a lot of moments to really get into the special effects but when these moments happened he did a great job. We saw a new villain so it is always cool to see what superpowers he will have and how they will do the effects.

Overall, I thought it was a decent movie and I will definitely watch it again. If you go to the theaters make sure to stay until the very end because there is a mid credits scene and a final credits scene. I would suggest this movie for anyone interested in superheroes or space but if you don’t like sad moments in movies this is not the movie for you.
