LOADING. Miller is getting ready to swing as the pitch is thrown. Miller committed to Cottey college on October 26th. “I plan to go to college to be an attorney and play softball,” Miller said.

Senior Hailey Miller walks out of the on-deck circle as she gets the coach’s sign and takes a practice swing. Stepping into the batter’s box Miller’s eyes are locked onto the pitcher.

Miller has played first base for the varsity softball team for 3 years. Miller has not made an error in those 3 years and enjoys playing Excelsior Springs the most.

“I have two competitive teammates who play there,” Miller said. “and they are my best friends”.

Miller’s batting average is .391. Senior Izzy Cobb loves to celebrate with Hailey after a play.

“I enjoy when we are both hyped after we make a great play,” Cobb said.

Miller had 18 hits which is ten above the national average. Sophomore Cora Bosley enjoys spending time with Hailey.

“We all went to Bass Pro and we were being little kids and I’m going miss her a lot,” Bosley said.

The pitch comes in not too fast but not too slow. Miller was ready for it, swinging and making direct contact. It finds the gap between left field and center and she legs out the double.
