TRY US. At the 9th Grade Preview Night, Sophomores Lake Sullivan (L) and Landon Sullivan help a rising freshman learn about the choir program at the high school. Choir is a co-curricular class and provides a fine art credit towards a student’s graduation requirement.

On Feb. 7, 2022, the Counseling Center set up a 9th Grade Preview Night for the rising freshmen.

This event is for our current 8th graders to get a feel for the school and to also be educated on the multiple clubs and activities they can participate in.

Freshmen Guidance Counselor Ms. Brittany Mathews feels that it’s helpful for our incoming students to get an idea of what this school offers and what could be interesting for them to do. Ms. Mathews also believes that this night was not only beneficial for the students but also the parents.

“I think freshmen and their parents both benefit from just meeting our staff and getting some more information about what we have to offer them here at the high school,” Ms. Matthes said.

Ms. Mathews is available to these upcoming ninth graders by being able to answer any questions about their academic plans and classes and also helping them through the scheduling process.

Rising 8th grader, Payton Goans thinks that she was able to get a feel for the school. She came out of this event being interested in the dance team and debate team.

“It’s helpful because it can give me an open mind about what’s going to happen in these upcoming four years,” Goans said.

28 tables set up with a wide variety of activities for our students to participate in.

Mr. Jo Miller, a parent of an 8th grade student both attending this event, finds that this event was very useful and fun.

“I think it is awesome that they’re getting exposure to all the different clubs and activities and different things they can do in high school,” Mr. Miller said.

Rising freshmen had an opportunity to see 27 different groups and activities.
