STUDYING. Senior Jacob Pahayo goes over his assignment in Anatomy. Pahayo’s favorite soccer memory is the bus rides home. “When the buses were not cramped, they were really fun. I have a lot of good memories from them.”

Sitting at a desk, the dim light of a chromebook screen reflects on a student’s glasses. Their head is perched on their hand as their eyes search the page. The strings of their hoodie dangle over the keyboard as they read, and type in the answers on a worksheet. It’s clear that Senior Jacob Pahayo is a dedicated student.

Pahayo has been involved in soccer and tennis since freshman year. He is in Health Occupations Student of America (HOSA) and Envirothon as well, and most recently, Writing Club. He enjoys the projects in these clubs.

“My favorite club is either Envirothon or HOSA,” Pahayo said. “I have a lot of fun participating in events held in both clubs.”

In his free time, Pahayo likes to watch television shows and play video games. He also enjoys figuring out how things work.

“I don’t know what college I want to go to yet,” Pahayo said. “But I want to do something involving engineering, maybe computer engineering.”

Pahayo has been involved in marching band and wind ensemble since freshman year. He has played the trumpet since middle school. Fellow bandmate Logan Mullins believes him to be an inspiration.

“Jacob is always a positive person,” Mullins said. “He never lets us give up and always lights up a room.”

Pahayo played defenseman in JV soccer and both double and single position in tennis. Senior and teammate Senior Brett Wininegar finds Jacob to be a good student

“Jacob is really funny and smart,” Wininegar said. “I have a lot of fun playing with him. He’s super cool.”

His hands pause over the keyboard, eyes squinting in concentration, before nodding his head and typing the answer to the next question. The bell rings and he gathers his chromebook and papers, filing them inside his backpack before hooking it over his shoulder, laughing with his tablemates.
