Senior Kylie Corum, captain of the Fort Osage cheerleading team, steps out onto the field on senior night as she hears the crowd cheer her name. She realizes she has achieved her goal and is ready for the next chapter in her life.
Having cheered her whole life, she plans to attend Missouri State University to become an ultrasound technician. Corum’s aspirations for this season is to lead the team to the best of her ability.
“My goals for this season are to lead the team to become better athletes and to have fun and enjoy my senior year,” Corum said.
Corum’s advice for the younger class is to always be authentic. “Put yourself out there,” Corum said, “there is no problem in making new friends.”
Corum’s teammate, and who she also calls a sister, Jazlee Lennox, says her favorite memory of Corum is growing up with her.
“She’s a good older representative and gives nothing but good advice,” Lennox said, “she is like my older sister.”
Another teammate, Ackalyn King, said she looks up to Corum because she’s always willing to have fun and still lead the team at the same time: “I can look up to her because she’s a leader and is always someone who’s down to have fun,” King said.
Corum is self-inspired and says she is motivated by the things she will accomplish in the future.
“Something that inspires me to become better is thinking about my future and how I want to see myself succeed later in life,” Corum said.
Many are so proud of Kylie Corum for all that she has accomplished.
