Graduation day was hosted in the Cafeteria from 1 PM until the end of the day. Senior Destiny Thompkins finds that seeing the seniors together for college is exciting. “I’m excited, it’s nice to be done with high school,” Thompkins said, “It’s just a good day, I’m excited to see all my friends in their college merch.”

Today, Fort Osage hosted this year’s decision day celebration for seniors, during the sixth and seventh hour. The celebration allowed seniors to meet with their peers and discuss their plans post-High School.

The celebration was planned and put on by the Fort Osage Counseling Department. Social Studies teacher Mr. Josh Wilson understands that the celebration highlights the strength of the Fort Osage community.

“This day’s awesome,” Wilson said, “I’m so happy we started this a few years ago. Get to see a lot of seniors all together, being able to play games and win prizes, our communities unbelievable a lot of people donated things [towards this].”

Photographic Technology and Services even provided a photo booth for the day. Senior Radken Ison believes that it’s about finding yourself out.

“It’s deciding where you want to go,” Ison said, “and what kind of person you want to be and getting to decide who you are.”

Graduation will be held on Friday, May 10, in the Community of Christ Auditorium in Independence, MO. Senior Alexander ‘Jay’ Banelos feels that picking a college is a large part of your future.

“It’s kinda crazy,” Banuelos, “how like one, random decision I make when I’m 17 decides how the rest of my life kinda goes, but that’s what I feel like it means, I feel like the weight of the world is on my shoulders.”
