Tutoring available for students
December 3, 2021
The new tutoring program started at the school. From 2:45 to 3:45 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, freshmen students can meet with teachers who are experts in the subjects they are struggling with. Organizer Mr. Tim Dial-Scruggs believes that the program is a good way for students to overcome their struggles.
“My goal is that students to not only find success in their current English and math classes, but really to get that skill development so they can find success and succeed in their next three years,” Mr. Dial-Scruggs said.
The tutoring program began Nov. 1 and will be offered the rest of the year. The program provides help for freshmen who are struggling in English, Pre-Algebra, or Algebra I. Freshman English Language Arts teacher Ms. Ashleigh Green hopes to help students raise their grades.
“My goal is to help my students who are struggling with their ELA grade to get some extra help and bring their grades up to passing,” Ms. Green said in an email. “I enjoy working one-on-one with these kids, too.”
The tutoring program started as a way to help students who may be behind due to COVID-19 issues. Students were chosen based on their grade and work completion. Freshman Abdoulaye Seck believes tutoring is a good idea.
“I feel tutoring would be beneficial because it could give that last piece of knowledge that would really help a student excel in class,” Seck said.
Any student with questions about tutoring can contact Mr. Dial-Scruggs through his email, or get in touch with any of the other mentors available.
