CHEERING. The dance team watches as Johnny Rowlands lands his helicopter on the football field. The dance team got to the school at 6:30am. “I loved when the cheer team and dance team were all cheering together,” Sophie Dech said.

On August 28th, 2023, students at Fort Osage found a Live News helicopter recording the high school for a story about teacher appreciation. Freshmen, Jaylee Smith, a member of student council, thought it was really cool to see the helicopter.

“Not a lot of schools get to experience this so I’m glad Fort Osage was one of them,” Smith said.

The band shaped into channel nines logo as the helicopter landed on the field. Principal Dr. Joshua Luke was ecstatic that Fort Osage was chosen for this event.

“I was excited, I thought it was a great experience for our student body,” Luke said.

The dance team, cheerleaders, the band, student council, and staff were all in attendance for the event. Senior band member Radken Ison feels like it was fun since it wasn’t something they normally do.

“I enjoy doing something new because we normally just do competitions and football games,” Ison said.

All of Admin received custom red tumblers.
