Lead Mock Attorney Hailey Miller feels that the gaps in practice affected being able to polish the techniques of the trial. “I think that the technique and the correct procedures were working against us, because that’s hard to learn, and that’s something that needs to be practiced,” Miller said, “and I think not having those practices really set us back.”

Seniors look to the skies as they prepare for final year

CALMING. The sun rises over the football field as seniors socialize and chat about their final year. Senior Siena Holler views it as an outlook for the school year. “Just make it through the year, and do everything you can.” Holler said.

On Friday, Seniors from the class of 2024 gathered on the Football field to watch the sunrise. Senior Drevious Black is looking at it with excitement for his senior year.

“I really enjoyed Senior Sunrise. I show up early,” Black said, “I’m starting out Senior year with an open mindset because it hasn’t hit me yet, but I’m excited.”

The event was sponsored by the Student Council, who also provided Donuts to those attending. Senior Destiny Thompkins found it as a nice way to see all the seniors.

“I had lots of fun at Senior Sunrise,” Thompkins said, “I think this is a great event and tradition we have to get all the seniors together.”

Around 120 people attended, Senior Jeffery Alexander thought the moment was worth living in as his senior year started.

“For senior year, I’m just getting ready.” Alexander said, “Just trying to live in the moment as much as possible, hanging out with friends.”

The Class of 2024 will graduate on May 10th.

Senior Dylan Daugherty works on a feature story in his Mass Media class. Daugherty plans to attend NorthWest Missouri State University for four years. Daugherty believes he will thrive in the college environment. “I really love doing this,” Daugherty said, “I’m good at it and I think I will have an amazing experience in college.”

The current Royals stadium (left) alongside what the new stadium could look like (right). There will be a vote on April 2nd about whether the fans want to pay the tax for the new stadium. Junior baseball player Tucker Krevitz believes the new stadium has potential. “I think the idea is really cool but parking will be rough,” Krevitz said.

Community members listen as superintendent Dr. Jason Snodgrass announces the school district’s plan moving into the 2023-2024 school year. In the upper right corner, you can see the new school central office, which opened in April 2023. Dr. Jason Snodgrass discussed the hope of continuing to engage students with the school. “Continuing to engage students,” Snodgrass said, “making sure that when they come to school, they’re excited to come to school, ready and prepared to help them after high school.”
