It’s a Friday night and the football team is getting pumped for the game. Behind the scenes, there’s a managing team making sure they have water, equipment, and game footage. Without these things, players could be dehydrated, play with broken helmets, and not be able to review areas of opportunity on the field. Senior Manager Allee Brimer feels as though the managers are an important part of the team.
“We have to make sure everything is set up and ready on the field. Such as cameras and equipment” Brimer said.
The managers fill the water bottles with ice and water, make Gatorade for game days, make sure all the needed equipment is prepared and ready, record practices and games, along with organizing the sheds, and set up the field. Head football Coach Brock Bult realizes he wouldn’t be able to do it without the managers.
“We couldn’t do it without the managers whether it’s during practice, helping get set up, waters, film, everything we need to be a successful program,” Bult said.
The filming devices are the Eye-in-the-sky which is located in the endzone and then just a standard filming camera on top of the press box. The eye-in-the-sky is connected to the Hudl set up which goes to iPads and the TV on the sideline. Varsity Quarterback Kyle Wilson enjoys having film on the sideline to review.
“It helps with seeing my mistakes on film and being able to point them out and learn from them,” Wilson said.
When it comes to the end of the game the managers have to undo everything they did before the game started. They have to put the cameras up, they have to take everything back to the sheds and they have to make sure everything is ready for the next game. The players and the coaches are happy to have the managers as a part of the team.
