Under the stadium lights, the air was electric as students gathered for the annual Homecoming football game and the halftime presentation of the royalty.
The Freshmen Royalty were Martin Price and Madison Boone, Sophomores Royalty Edrik Noaese and Molly Roby, and Junior Royalty Kinlea Culbertson and Ava Adlard were introduced to fans at the beginning of the ceremony.
The Senior Royalty included: Ryan Rodriguez and Ainsley Beckmann, Tanner Farmer and Aubrey Miller, Bradyn Ison and Darien Raines, Colin Stratton and Leiniva Faitau, Josue Cisneros and Olivia Dziura.
Candidates waited patiently on the field for the announcement of the king and queen. The crowd erupted in cheers as Colin Stratton and Leiniva Faitau were crowned Senior royalty.
“It felt really good being with Leiniva,” Stratton said.
Colin also mentioned that he and Leiniva always talked about this together.
“It felt really cool and honorary to be queen,” Faitau said.
Ending the night, Fort Osage Indians dominated the Ruskin Eagles 49-0.
The week leading up to the game, the Student Council hosted a Spirit Week; the themes were USA Out, Jersey Out, Future College/Career, and Fort Pride. The Homecoming Dance was held Saturday, October 4, from 7 to 10 p.m.
Midnight in Manhattan was the theme for the night. The tables were decorated with cut-out newspapers and little taxi cars under streetlights. Around the pillars were lights cut from yellow paper to resemble New York buildings. There was a photobooth that had many props where students could take pictures with friends or dates. Also, the concession stand was open for food and snacks.
“After Homecoming, I went straight to Sonic and got myself a number 17 full meal and a number 16 just the item, then I got a Route 44 Dr Pepper and went home,” Brady Keith, senior, said.
